Here's a letter in today's Times. I'll comment on it later:
To the Editor:
I am practically doing a jig over the ban on smoking in restaurants and bars, effective March 30 ("A Last Call on Tobacco Is Starting to Feel Real," news article, March 17).
Could Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg now replicate the ban for sidewalks so that nonsmokers don't have to walk through the
toxic and unpleasant clouds produced by smokers?
Perhaps the north side of streets and the west side of avenues can be nonsmoking. I am almost not kidding.
